So where does the money go?

In 2016 Designing Daughters raised over $61,000 and with that, we were able to provide grants to 15  local non-profits.  Many people wonder how our granting process works, and we are happy to share that each and every member of our group is involved in the decision making.  Every member in good standing is allowed to nominate 1 not-for-profit that they feel passionate about.  From there, our Grants Committee contacts each nominated organization and gives them the opportunity to submit a formal grant.  Once grants are received and reviewed by our committee we have a formal voting process inclusive of each and every member.  Based on percentage of votes received, dollar values are applied to each grant and VOILA checks are cut and projects are underway!!

Who has received a grant from Designing Daughters?

Every year is unique and dynamic.  One of our goals is to spread the money amongst a lot of different groups that need financial assistance, so this list is always growing.  But to give you a good idea of where YOUR money has gone, here is a list of our current grant recipients:

  • Everyday Blessings
  • InStride Therapy
  • Take Stock in Children
  • Children First
  • Mark Wandall Foundation
  • More Too Life
  • Nate's Honor Rescue
  • Pines of Sarasota
  • Easter Seals of Southwest Florida
  • Boys & Girls Club
  • Mote Marine
  • Sarasota Ballet
  • Muscular Dystrophy Association
  • Neuro Challenge
  • Florida Rescue Farm

We are excited to follow projects such as the “Designing Daughters Greenhouse” at Girls Inc, and people, like the “Designing Daughters Scholar” from Take Stock in Children and the graduate from “Paws for Independence” at Southeastern Guide Dogs.  It is with your financial support, attendance at our annual events and involvement that our group can give back to the Sarasota and Bradenton community in such a big way!!
